We went to a birthday party for Zoe’s friend on Saturday at a bouncy house place that just about blew Lilly’s mind. That is, until she discovered the water fountain and the fact that this one had a stool so she could reach it without anyone holding her. Within a minute or to of practicing, she had also figured out how to hold down the button to release the water too and suddenly those giant inflatable slides and trampolines were yesterday’s news.
This entertained her for at least 15 minutes until the inevitable moment occurred when she became distracted by something else while she was drinking and thus ended up with the front of her dress covered in water. Of course, I’m never that prepared parent who would have had a extra outfit on hand but Lilly’s never one to leave a party early, so she endured a humiliating paper towel wipedown and returned to the party just in time for pizza and Hoodsies. It’s no wonder she sleeps so hard at night, really. When everything around you is new and exciting all day long, life must be pretty exhausting.
It’s finally feeling somewhat like Spring around here which means scooters and bikes are piled in the back of the car on top of the running stroller so that we’re prepared at any given moment to get outside and soak up the sunshine while it’s here. Zoe likes to scoot ahead and make the rest of us chase her and she’s much faster and more confident than she was when we packed the scooter away for the winter sometime in early November. It’s funny how much can change in a matter of months and crazy to think that in a matter of a few more months, she’ll be five and heading to Kindergarten. I’m really fine with the scooting faster, but I wish she could slow down with all of the other stuff.
