Lily

Where do I  begin with this one? This was one of those absolutely perfect sessions that I wish I could just  bottle. Rebecca contacted me about photos of her 2.5 year old daughter Lily and as it turned out, the forecast for the for very next Monday looked good after a streak of unpredictable weather that had us all wondering daily whether we needed umbrellas or sunscreen. Rebecca’s family lives in Belmont now (though she hails from England originally) and I suggested the beautiful Audobon property known as Habitat, which is also in Belmont.

We met at 4:30 and as the session went on, the golden hazy light just got better and better. We wandered down trails, visited the goats and stopped by the pond where you can sometimes see giant frogs hanging out on lily pads. Lily explored and laughed and reveled in the snuggles and obvious adoration that she had from both parents. She had an impish smile that captured what it means to be 2 in a way that requires no words.

I could probably post the whole session because from the gorgeous setting (anyone near Belmont, take note for your next session!) to the positively sweet child to the relaxed and easygoing parents, it was a perfect afternoon. To me, the perfect sessions are the ones in which I feel like I’m truly just joining a family for an hour of them being themselves, all together and I get to just be a fly on the wall–no pressure on anyone to be anything other than be who they are. In that regard, this session hit every mark. Somehow though, I’ve managed to narrow it down to some favorites.
