Henry was born 2 weeks early, just as I was heading out of state to Disneyworld for a week so he was my first session when we returned. After a week of loud sounds, bright colors everywhere and chaos in general, it was refreshing to spend a few quiet hours in a room with just Laura, Robert and sweet little 13-day old Henry. There’s nothing like a newborn session to bring you back to appreciating the simplest of pleasures, like tiny baby toes and the squeaky little sounds that a sleeping newborn sometimes makes. It turned out that sleep was high on Henry’s list of priorities during my time there. He essentially slept through the entire session and even when we tried to provoke him to open his eyes for just a few shots at the end of the session, he stood his ground and woke to cry a bit while still keeping his eyes tightly shut. I can’t and won’t complain because even in his deep slumber, he shared an array of expressions and gave us a little taste of his personality. For Laura and Robert’s sake, I hope that he continues to cherish sleep as much as he did last Saturday!
