Henry’s mom contacted me when he was about 9 weeks old, wondering whether he was at a good age for photos. She knew that the window for newborn photos had long passed but wasn’t sure whether 2 or 3 months was a good age to capture or whether it made more sense to wait a bit. While it’s true that 6-7 months is a great age for portraits, since many babies are sitting up independently by then, I also feel that by that age, they’ve evolved into a notably more grown-up looking little person than the one you gave birth to.
So especially if you didn’t do newborn photos, I think 3 months old is a lovely stage to capture and one that will still remind you of how tiny they once were and how content they were just to be in your arms. As a bonus, you often get more smiles and shots where the baby responds to the clicking sound and looks right into the camera, if they can bear to take their eyes off mom and dad, that is. In this case, Nikki and Nate were just as smitten with sweet Henry as he was with them and it came through in every photo.
Karidan ChapmanGreat job on capturing that family!
