Jenalee & Tim + 1

We scheduled this maternity session back when there was still snow on the ground. Jenna was in full planning mode and booked me for maternity and newborn shots and I was dreaming of warm weather and gorgeous summer sunsets at Crane Beach. And while we’ve had our share of some pretty beautiful beach days this summer, Jenna and Tim’s session was during one of those weather weeks that the forecasters call “unsettled”.  I watched the forecast even more closely than usual. I read all of the weather blogs, breaking down the chances of rain by the hour and tried to map out where this would start and whether it would actually make its way to Ipswich. Finally, we opted to move the session one day earlier in the week when things looked slightly more promising. Then on the day of the session, the hourly forecasts shifted again and things looked dicey so I suggested that we meet at 6 rather than 7.

To say we got lucky would be putting it mildly. It rained for much of my drive up the North Shore and while the ground was dry when I met Jenna and Tim in the parking lot, much of the sky was dark and ominous.  But we were there and it seemed worth a shot. Jenna’s due date is rapidly approaching and Jenna and Tim are already quite a busy pair as the owners of a local coffee and sandwich shop, Jitters. (https://www.jitters-cafe.com/)  So we went for it, rather than attempt to reschedule. We ended up having the beach almost all to ourselves and got to watch the skies change over the course of the hour until finally, Tim saw lightening in the distance and we knew that there was no question that the storm would reach us.

Just as we exited the beach at nearly 7PM, the rain started and within minutes, it was steady but by then, we were all safe and warm in our cars. I’m so glad that these two were up for taking our chances and I had such a great time getting to know them a bit. Can’t wait to meet and photograph their little one later this summer but for now, here are a few of my favorites from their beach maternity session!
