I’m always excited to learn about new spot for photos and Mai picked a great little park that I’d never been to called Auburndale Cove park in Newton. Like many moms, her goal was for us to get some family shots since she or her husband are always the ones taking the pictures. She also wanted some shots of each of the kids and some of them together and the park was a great place to let them just be themselves.
Stella and Jack were adorable and easy to photograph and I was happy to follow them around while they did their thing, after they’d obliged us with some family shots. My favorites are the ones of the two of them together and the one of Stella in the park being held by dad, probably because it reminds me of our near daily trips to the park as a family. It reminded me how cool it is to see your kids progress from the things that they initially just watched the big kids do but then in the blink of an eye, they are doing those very things, scaling structures, jumping from the very top and sliding down slides headfirst. At some point, we’ll have outgrown the park altogether but I can’t possibly think about that time yet since Preschool graduation was enough of a tearjerker for me this week. In the meantime, we’ll soak up those moments and savor these days when they alternate between needing a hand trying something new and boldly pronouncing, “I do it myself!”
